BSEF Presents Grant Awards - Spring 2011

The Ballston Spa Education Foundation (BSEF) recently awarded thirteen grants to Ballston Spa school district staff members in support of their mission to provide enrichment activities for the children of the district. The foundation awarded over $14,400 during this spring cycle of grants, which brings their total contribution to the schools to over $270,000 since 1996.

Teachers from the four district elementary schools received a total of $4,624 to support grants ranging from technology equipment for Physical Education classes to a community garden project. The Middle School and High School instructors received over $9,800 in funding to support projects including Wind Power science kits, E-book collections, a training robot and a Tetrix robotics kit.

Current BSEF Grant Chairperson Cheryl Sovern, past Grant Chairperson Martina Bantham and Membership Committee Chairperson Ellen Mottola presented Superintendent Dr. Joseph P. Dragone and Board of Education President Kathy Jarvis with a check for $14,480.96 to fund the grant awards. The foundation will offer an additional cycle of grant awards again in the fall of 2011.
